Our green and clubhouse are maintained by the voluntary efforts of members.  The immaculately kept green measures an impressive 35.5m square.

Our modern club house, completed in 2008, comprises changing room, toilets, disabled toilet, kitchen, office and function room, making it a splendid venue for the club’s bowling and social activities.

The crown green bowling season runs from early April to the end of September with organised social bowling on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons plus Friday evenings.  Additionally, from April 2019, we have introduced sessions of 15-up bowling on occasional Thursdays.

Organised bowling is also available on occasional Sunday afternoons – with tea and cakes.  Similarly, the ever popular Sunday afternoon barbeque and social bowling event is held annually. Other specially catered bowling days include President’s Day, Chairman’s and Secretary’s Day, Captain’s Day and Finals Day .

We enjoy home and away friendly fixtures with local bowling clubs.  We also enjoy our Away Days. This year we have three such days when we hire a bowling green for the full day and use a convenient hostelry for a buffet lunch with an evening meal to round the day off. During the autumn and winter months we play two mats of short mat bowling in our clubhouse on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons.  Additionally, there is a regular Wednesday organised session of long mat bowling at Tamworth Indoor Bowls Club.  We also organise an annual indoor long mat bowling holiday (Monday to Friday) at Potters Resort in Norfolk. The club boasts a 9-pin skittles alley and periodic skittles evenings are held during the year.  Whist, bridge, darts, dominoes, cribbage and table skittle games evenings plus quiz nights all feature amongst our varied mix of events.

From October to March, SCARABS  (Stone Crown Amblers, Ramblers And BowlerS) walking group enjoy fortnightly organised walks followed by lunch at a convenient hostelry. Members enjoy themed dinner evenings which in the past have included Burns' Supper, French and Italian themes, Saints George, Patrick and David celebrations, Annual Bowls Presentation Dinner, Christmas Social and New Year’s Eve Party.  Details of these and SCARABS walking itineraries can be found on our social events page.  Please access our Facebook page which provides photographs and comments from many of our festival days and social events - there is a link provided on our Home and News pages. The wellbeing of our members is of paramount importance.  Fifteen of us are qualified first-aiders and a state-of-the-art defibrillator is housed in the clubhouse foyer. Yes, Stone Crown Bowling Club offers a unique all year round amenity for social bowling in a fun and friendly atmosphere – and so much more besides.
